Recapturing Freedom – Die Rückeroberung der Freiheit

June 14 – August 11, 2013

Torsten Warmuth was working on fictive images long before our belief in the authenticity of photographs had been shaken definitively by the digitalization of the pictorial world. Using multiple and long-term exposures and montages of negatives, he constructed his own very personal perspective of the world, predominantly of big-city life. The exhibition shows his progress in recent years from the development of Silver Paintings, the large-format photo papers with multiple applications of toners, to his current works in colour: images with an aesthetic and content that is unique, their many abstractions liberating them from every constraint of “the photographic”.
